iPadpalooza 2014 has ended

iPadpalooza is a three-day event held at Westlake High School in Austin, TX.  This learning festival is a celebration of the cultural-shift the iPads have brought about in education and the world.  This event will focus on creativity, social collaboration, engagement and the compelling ways schools have integrated iPads into their classrooms.  This year we will also premiere our “iLead Academy” which will take place on June 17th (8:30-4:00) and is focused on helping campus and district leadership thrive in a mobile learning environment.

The festival will start on the evening of June 17th at 6:30pm (registration opens at 4:00pm) and end on June 19th and will feature amazing speakers from all over the world, lots of live music and of course, food trailers. Please note there will be limited seating to this event and the iLead Academy.

As student devices are being integrated into schools, helping students be good digital citizens is more important than ever. Join Common Sense Media to learn about resources for teaching digital citizenship in the iPad classroom. Participants will learn about two curriculum resources that teach students to be safe, responsible, and respectful in a digital world.

First, participants will learn about free K-12 Digital Literacy and Citizenship Curriculum eBooks, which include a Teacher Edition and accompanying Student Workbook offered by grade levels K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. The curriculum is research-based, flexible, and aligned to Common Core, ISTE, and AASL standards. Parent resources are included. The Teacher Edition includes easy-to-use lesson plans, teaching tips, and videos of lessons in action. The Student Workbook includes lesson activities, videos, assessments, and the ability to email work to the teacher. The curriculum is teacher-led with opportunities for independent student work in blended settings.

Digital Passport, available in the App Store, teaches students in grades 3-5 citizenship skills through interactive games. Students collect badges towards earning a Digital Passport certificate. Digital Passport received a Bronze Medal in the 2012 International Serious Play Awards and a Reader’s Choice Award from eSchool News in 2013.
