iPadpalooza is a three-day event held at Westlake High School in Austin, TX.  This learning festival is a celebration of the cultural-shift the iPads have brought about in education and the world.  This event will focus on creativity, social collaboration, engagement and the compelling ways schools have integrated iPads into their classrooms.  This year we will also premiere our “iLead Academy” which will take place on June 17th (8:30-4:00) and is focused on helping campus and district leadership thrive in a mobile learning environment.

The festival will start on the evening of June 17th at 6:30pm (registration opens at 4:00pm) and end on June 19th and will feature amazing speakers from all over the world, lots of live music and of course, food trailers. Please note there will be limited seating to this event and the iLead Academy.

iPadpalooza…It’s not a conference, it’s a learning festival!

Limited Capacity filling up

Across the country teachers are looking for ideas on how to integrate technology into their classrooms while simultaneously adapting curriculum to meet Common Core Standards. Designed for K-5 teachers, this session will introduce which apps can directly correlate to Core Standards in Reading, Writing, Speaking/Listening, and Math. We even show authentic, real-world projects to demonstrate the Standards for Mathematical Practices and will bring along student-created samples from our school site!

The first goal of our session will be exposing attendees to several free and paid apps, including but not limited to Educreations, Skitch, Nearpod, Trading Card, Explain Everything and Sonic Pics. Elementary students can utilize these apps in order to demonstrate their knowledge of Common Core Standards in all subject areas.

Second, we will focus on how app-stacking (utilizing multiple apps) can create dynamic, authentic projects to be used for summative and/or formative assessments.

The session will conclude with a challenge to attendees! They will select one Common Core Standard and brainstorm how they might implement one or more apps into their classroom.
